Job summary

Sweco UK is seeking a Hazard Study Facilitator to join our design team across Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Birmingham. The role offers flexible working with a minimum of 3 days in the office and the option of adjusted start/finish times; part-time applications are considered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered status with IMechE or IChemE (or equivalent).
• Extensive knowledge and experience of mechanical design for the water industry.
• Experience delivering water designs and specifications for water-related projects (Water Companies, Contractors and industry).
• Understanding environmental implications, sustainability, and water/wastewater processes including health and safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hazard studies (HAZID, SWIFT, HazOp, ALMs) to identify major hazards, evaluate safeguards and determine risk reduction requirements.
• Develop and maintain hazard study tools, templates and best practice guidance to improve consistency and effectiveness of hazard studies and risk assessments.
• Ensure delivery of hazard studies in line with scope, schedules and budgets.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders and suppliers to support successful hazard study delivery.
• Provide technical guidance, training and mentoring to colleagues, supporting development of less experienced engineers.

Job description

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Hazard Study Facilitator to join our design team in Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Birmingham as part of a multi-disciplinary department providing detailed designs for water related projects in the UK. This role can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times. We will also consider part-time applications. What does the role involve?
