We're seeking an exceptional individual to inspire and guide our Hatchery team at Tegel Hatchery in Christchurch. As an inspirational team leader, you'll ignite enthusiasm, foster collaboration, and drive success.

You will be responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to your team to ensure high-quality, cost-effective hatchery operations. You will ensure hatchability and the production of the correct quantities of quality chickens in accordance with management objectives, quality standards, safety, and biosecurity.

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and positive team culture.
  • Model organisational values and behaviours, promoting a respectful workplace.
  • Set clear expectations and performance standards, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback.
  • Lead the team to deliver high-quality day-old chicks to the farm, ensuring effective planning and utilisation.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all growers, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Ensure bio-security measures are in place and functioning according to organisational guidelines, including employee bio-security protocols.
  • Manage, direct, and induct on-site suppliers and contractors.
  • Order relevant stocks and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain and promote a culture of continuous improvement, including identifying initiatives, engaging the team, reporting results, and implementing changes.
  • Be available to participate in rosters to cover alarms and duties as required.

What you will bring:

  • Experience supervising or leading teams.
