About the Role:

We’re looking for a Hatchery Supervisor
Location:Shobdon, Herefordshire

Working Hours

36 hours per week – 4 shifts between Monday and Saturday on a 3-week rotating pattern:

  • Week 1:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

  • Week 2:Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday

  • Week 3:Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

08:00 – 18:00

About the Role

As aHatchery Supervisor, you’ll support the Hatchery Manager and Assistant Manager with the day-to-day running of the hatchery. This includes supervising operations, ensuring high hygiene and welfare standards, and leading your team effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee equipment setup, operation, and post-use cleaning

  • Supervise chick sorting by grade and quantity for delivery

  • Manage egg transfers between setting and hatching machines

  • Liaise with Drivers, Managers, and Operatives

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and site policies

  • Organise staff and resources effectively

  • Monitor use of PPE and ensure safety protocols are followed

  • Support training and development of team members

  • Report hazards and defects promptly

  • Good level of English and basic numeracy skills

  • High attention to detail and a flexible approach to tasks

  • Positive, self-motivated attitude with the ability to work independently

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Reliable and approachable, with the ability to build strong working relationships

  • Previous supervisory experience is essential (agriculture experience preferred but not required – full training provided)
