Hardwick Green Primary Academy is seeking to appoint an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our ambitious and committed team.

In September 2025, Hardwick Green is opening a brand-new SEND Unit for 16 primary-age children with complex Communication & Interaction / Cognition & Learning needs. The SEND Unit is a joint venture with Stockton-on-Tees Local Authority, and access to the Unit will be through the Local Authority.

This role is to support teaching and learning and to provide care of pupils one of the two classes in the new Unit. The role will also involve covering the class teachers for PPA, leadership time or other absences.

We are looking to appoint someone who:

  • is a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Level 4 or above)
  • is an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant and has recent, relevant experience of working with children with complex SEND
  • shows compassion, resilience and patience in their care for children with SEND.
  • holds every child and their family in the highest possible regard and lead by example, having high expectations of what every child can achieve.

You will benefit from a newly refurbished setting, with high quality resources. The appointed candidate will work alongside our new SEND Unit Lead Teacher and our Assistant Principal: Inclusion and will be well-supported by the wider SEND Unit team and school team. As part of our school, you will have access to extensive continuous professional development from both the Enquire Learning Trust and Local Authority.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of the development of our SEND provision from the very start, and you will have the opportunity to bring your expertise to shape our future work.
