Job Description: Hardware Engineer

Join Rolls-Royce in Derby as a Hardware Engineer within our Submarines business, responsible for designing, developing, and supporting nuclear propulsion-related products and systems for the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. This role offers opportunities across all phases of the product lifecycle, working with digital, software, programmable hardware, and electronics technologies.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Develop hardware requirements using DOORS and architect solutions
  2. Design circuits, select components, and create schematics
  3. Integrate software and programmable hardware onto platforms
  4. Conduct integration testing and develop automated procedures
  5. Manage change control, configuration, and liaise with cross-disciplinary teams
  6. Support process improvements, audits, and product reviews
  7. Manage suppliers and oversee project scope and delivery
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or related field
  • Experience in digital electronics, programmable logic devices, and real-time systems
  • Knowledge of safety-critical development standards (e.g., IEC62566)
  • Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • UK nationality and ability to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance
