Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer to join the Rugby-based R&D team, contributing to concept-to-production development of innovative electronics.

You will design embedded systems, develop firmware for microcontrollers, and manage BOMs while ensuring EMC and safety compliance and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years in a product development environment.
• Strong experience in electronic hardware design, PCB development, and embedded firmware programming.
• Knowledge of product safety, EMC, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Project management experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded electronic systems, including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, prototyping, and testing.
• Develop and maintain Embedded C/C++ firmware for microcontrollers.
• Produce technical documentation, specifications, and product development requirements.
• Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintain product data within ERP systems.
• Support product testing, validation, EMC and safety compliance activities.
• Provide technical support to production and wider engineering teams, while mentoring junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• The Electronics Hardware Engineer will design and develop embedded electronic systems, including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, prototyping, and testing.
• Develop and maintain Embedded C/C++ firmware for PIC, NXP, or similar microcontrollers.
• Produce technical documentation, specifications, and product development requirements.
• Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintain product data within ERP systems.
• The Electronics Engineer will support product testing, validation, EMC and safety compliance activities.
• Provide technical support to production and wider engineering teams, while mentoring junior colleagues.
