Job summary

Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing is seeking a Handyperson in Lambeth to provide responsive small repairs and support elderly, disabled, or vulnerable residents across all tenures.

You will program, install and service Community Alarms and assistive technology, carry out Home Fire Safety Checks, install detectors, and work with local authorities to deliver safety improvements while following health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Full clean UK driving license is essential.
• Skills-based experience and training, ideally from a full craft apprenticeship.
• Willingness to undertake trade and personal development training as requested.
• Established trade background.
• DBS check will be completed after offer and updated every 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Programming, installing, and servicing Community Alarms and Assistive Technology equipment, with thorough customer guidance on operation.
• Conducting Home Fire Safety Checks and installing Smoke detectors as directed by the Fire and Rescue service.
• Installing equipment for Domestic Violence Customers provided by the Community Safety partnership.
• Collaborating with local authorities and partner agencies on various projects.
• Adhering to Fire & Rescue Guidance on Driving DFRS Vehicles and maintaining accurate mileage records.
• Being accountable for Trade Card usage.
• Identifying areas for improvement, implementing changes, and providing necessary feedback.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to enhance service effectiveness.
