The successful candidate will join an established team, living on-site in accommodation provided. The position emphasizes outdoor, practical work with opportunities to support gardening duties and estate upkeep.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance and general property repairs.
• Horticultural qualifications are not essential.
• Confident driver with practical skills and fitness.
• Excellent English communication.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with general property maintenance and handyman duties.

Our client is searching for a Live in Handyman/ Gardener to join a team on a large family estate, ensuring the smooth-running operation of the household and grounds.

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced, energetic and hands‑on Handyman / Gardener to join an established team on a beautiful private family estate in Mid Berkshire.

The property comprises a six-bedroom, eight-bathroom main residence, extensive grounds, kitchen gardens, orchards, a tennis court and an indoor swimming pool.

Working alongside the Farm Manager and Head Gardener, the successful candidate will assist with the general upkeep of the estate, supporting both property maintenance and gardening duties.

This is a varied and physically active position, ideally suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, is practical and capable of carrying out general repairs and maintenance, and takes pride in keeping a property and its grounds beautifully presented.

The family is looking for someone proactive, hardworking and enthusiastic, who is happy to work as part of an established team while also taking responsibility for their own tasks.

Extra Details of the Role

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with general property maintenance, repairs and handyman duties
• Supporting the Head Gardener with the upkeep of the grounds, kitchen gardens and orchards
• Carrying out physically demanding tasks, including working at height when appropriately trained and equipped
• Maintaining and servicing the tennis court
• Assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of the indoor swimming pool
• Preparing, cutting and storing fire logs
• Ensuring household vehicles and property windows are cleaned regularly
• Providing regular updates on the condition and upkeep of the estate
• Working closely with the Farm Manager and Head Gardener
• Assisting with general outdoor maintenance and seasonal estate tasks
• Supporting the care of the family's dogs and hens when required
• Ensuring the grounds and outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard
