Job summary

Countryside Classroom is seeking a dedicated outdoor professional to support a Head Groundskeeper on a 35-acre private estate in the Chilterns. The role involves hands-on garden maintenance, seasonal pruning, and managing fields and boundaries with various machinery, while contributing to conservation efforts on chalk grassland and SSSI sites.

We value someone who can work independently or as part of a team, with a full UK driving licence and a commitment to privacy and security on a residential

Qualifications

• Proven experience in private estate maintenance, high-end gardening and conservation work.
• Confident with petrol tools and larger machinery such as ride-on mowers and compact tractors.
• Organised, reliable and respectful of the privacy and security of a residential estate.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the formal gardens around the main house to an immaculate standard.
• Seasonal pruning, planting, weeding and care of established trees.
• Managing fields, tracks, woodland and boundaries with machinery, including routine maintenance.
• Chalk grassland and SSSI conservation management.
• Keeping paths, courtyards and fence lines tidy and secure year-round.

We’re looking for a dedicated, self-motivated outdoor professional to support our Head Groundskeeper on a stunning 35-acre private estate in the Chilterns. This varied, hands-on role suits someone who works well both independently and as part of a team.

The role

• Maintaining the formal gardens around the main house (beds, borders, shrubberies and lawns) to an immaculate standard
• Seasonal pruning, planting, weeding and care of established trees
• Managing fields, tracks, woodland and boundaries with compact tractor, flail mower, hedge cutter and chainsaw, including routine machinery maintenance
• Chalk grassland and SSSI conservation management
• Keeping paths, courtyards and fence lines tidy and secure year-round

About you

• Proven experience in private estate maintenance, high-end gardening and conservation work
• Confident with petrol tools and larger machinery such as ride-on mowers and compact tractors
• Organised, reliable and respectful of the privacy and security of a residential estate
• Full UK driving licence (essential, given the estate’s size)
