Join to apply for the Handy Person/Painter role at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen within SLAM for a painter/handyman to join the Estates team. The Trust has four main sites and community properties, therefore applicants should be able to arrange their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks in a safe and tidy manner.

To maintain continuity of service, there will be times when extra hours, altered work patterns/duties are required. The post-holder must have a good general knowledge of domestic and commercial buildings.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Undertake planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, and emergency works as demanded by a hospital of this type, ensuring safe working methods and cost-effective practices.
  2. Understand the workings of buildings, engineering services, and systems in NHS/Trust premises, maintaining high standards and ensuring safe and efficient use of plant and equipment.
  3. Carry out work promptly using the current works requisition system and record associated information.
  4. Work as part of a departmental team and support colleagues of all levels and disciplines as required.
  5. Provide maintenance services to all Trust buildings and off-site properties, capable of working independently.
  6. Maintain continuity of service, including working extra hours, altered patterns, duties, or locations as needed.
  7. Stay updated with current legislation and attend training courses as directed by Estate Management.
  8. Work safely in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, current guidance, and Trust safety policies.
