Job description

Craven College is an aspirational institution located across friendly and inclusive rural campuses in Skipton, within the Yorkshire Dales, at The Aviation Academy near Leeds Bradford Airport, and at Evolve in Ripon. The college offers a variety of courses including full-time programs for 16–18-year-olds, apprenticeships, courses for students with special educational needs, part-time courses, and degree programs, all under the mission of ‘enriching lives through learning’. Tyro Training, the college's commercial division, provides training courses for individuals and businesses in Skipton.

Recent investments include a £1.6m Animal Management Centre at Aireville Campus and new equestrian facilities, including an international-sized arena and outdoor warm-up area.

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Handy Person to support the Facilities Manager in maintaining our multi-site college. The role involves assisting with day-to-day maintenance, some caretaking, and cleaning duties. The successful candidate will ensure maintenance activities are carried out effectively and safely, contributing to the upkeep and improvement of the college estate across all sites. They will also provide a high-quality general maintenance service, prioritizing work efficiently in line with health and safety standards.

Essential requirements:
  1. Proven practical experience in trades within an Estates and Facilities environment
  2. Trustworthy, honest, and reliable
  3. Residing locally
  4. Willing to work flexibly according to college needs
  5. Good personal presentation
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
  7. Excellent planning and organizational skills
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive attitude
  9. High awareness of health, safety, and security procedures
  10. Experience with risk assessments
  11. Physically fit to lift and carry equipment
  12. Valid clean driving license and access to insured vehicle for over 1 year
  13. Flexibility to cover various shifts, including occasional weekends
