Job summary

GSL Education Hull is seeking a Motor Vehicle Tutor / Mechanic to join a specialist educational setting in Hull. The role focuses on hands-on automotive training, combining practical workshops with learning.

You will deliver engaging sessions, assess progress and support learners aged 14-19, with SEMH/SEND or barriers to education. Start ASAP in a permanent, full-time position with a clear progression path.

Qualifications

• Must hold minimum of Level 2 in Motor Vehicle.
• Teaching experience or qualification is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong industry experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging practical Motor Vehicle sessions.
• Teach learners basic vehicle maintenance, servicing and workshop skills.
• Support students to understand vehicle components and identify faults.
• Provide hands-on demonstrations and practical activities.
• Adapt sessions to suit different abilities and learning needs.
• Promote safe working practices and maintain a safe workshop environment.
• Build positive relationships with young people who may have SEMH, SEND or barriers to education.
• Encourage confidence, independence, teamwork and employability skills.
• Support learners to develop skills that can lead towards further education, apprenticeships or employment.
