Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Test Technician for a 6-month contract in South Wales. The role involves building and preparing mechanical assemblies, carrying out tests, and monitoring performance with engineering teams in a busy test laboratory.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background, strong practical skills, and experience in a structured test environment. A role in the automotive, rail, or similar sectors is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Strong practical mechanical background and ability to work in structured test environment.
• Experience in automotive, rail, marine, power generation, or defence manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair and prepare test components and auxiliary equipment.
• Carry out test activities in line with defined procedures and standards.
• Operate data acquisition equipment and record results accurately.

Skills

Mechanical Engineering

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Strong practical mechanical skills

Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics

Experience in a mechanical engineering test laboratory

Education

Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
