Job summary

Holt Engineering is recruiting a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join an in-house production operation in Southampton on a permanent, full-time basis. The role supports three fully automated production lines and involves maintenance of cleaners, waxes, lubricants and related liquids.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical and automation faults, carry out practical repairs, and develop preventative maintenance to minimise downtime. This is a challenging, hands-on position.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience within manufacturing or production.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with automated or semi-automated production equipment.
• Practical experience repairing production machinery.
• Machine setup and product changeover experience.
• Methodical fault diagnosis under production pressure.

Responsibilities

• Respond to machine breakdowns across automated lines.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and automation faults.
• Repair equipment to restore production safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot recurring problems; identify root causes.
• Manage spares to minimise downtime.
• Support planned preventive maintenance activities.
• Establish maintenance schedules and record keeping.
• Assist machine setup and changeovers.
• Improve changeover times and equipment reliability.
• Document settings and known faults; create manuals.
