Position Overview:

Hands-on Head of Engineering/Tech Lead - to £130k - Ruby on Rails

The title is flexible. Given the hands-on nature, it's an experienced Tech Lead role, but since you're the first dev hire responsible for transitioning away from a consultancy, they are open to calling it Head of Engineering if preferred.

You will join an established company aiming to build an in-house team, with existing Product personnel. Your responsibilities include creating the tech culture, building a small Ruby Engineers team, managing the transition from consultancy, and making strategic, data-driven decisions.

Requirements:

• Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and architecture

Location & Benefits:

• London - Hybrid in Shoreditch, 1 day/week on-site or more
• Up to £130k
• Benefits: 25 holiday days (plus bank holidays, increasing with tenure), annual L&D budget, team socials, wellbeing budget (£200/year), pension contribution

Tech Stack: Ruby on Rails (essential), React (ideal), Postgres, Stimulus, Tailwind, AWS, Heroku, and others.
