Job summary

The Royal Society of Chemistry in Loughborough is seeking a Scientist to join its fire test laboratory team on an initial 12-month contract. The role is fully on site at 36.25 hours per week with a salary of £29,500 per year.

You will carry out practical fire testing from setup through data analysis and reporting, working closely with customers and colleagues to ensure safety and quality in a UKAS accredited facility.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemistry, physics or engineering OR equivalent experience in an industrial or material testing environment.
• Proactive attitude to health and safety.
• Willingness to perform physical/manual work and engage with customers.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out fire testing activities from start to finish, including setting up rigs and equipment ahead of a test.
• Analysing test data and writing up clear, accurate reports that customers and colleagues can rely on.
• Liaising directly with customers, keeping them updated on test progress, timelines and results.
