Job summary

Boxbar Tech in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, seeks an Automation & Product Development Engineer to advance automated beverage-dispensing tech. You’ll bridge mechanical, electrical and software disciplines from concept to prototype and pilot deployment, delivering reliable products for live-event environments.

You will work hands-on, build and test systems, collaborate with suppliers and internal teams, and drive manufacturability and product improvements across the platform.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent practical industry experience.
• Experience developing, building or maintaining automated or electromechanical equipment.
• Strong hands-on prototyping, wiring and fault-finding ability.
• Ability to read and produce technical drawings or wiring diagrams.
• Experience with sensors, actuators and control components.
• Ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to visit suppliers and customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated and electromechanical products, features and subsystems.
• Prototype, test and refine concepts through structured development cycles.
• Design mechanical, electrical and automated systems for manufacturability.
• Prepare production-ready designs and BOMs with clear documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Support pilot deployments and field installations.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Ensure safety, reliability and compliance in product design.
