Job summary

City College Norwich is seeking a Practical Instructor - Animal Management (0.7 FTE) to support the technical and curriculum teams at its Easton College site. You will deliver hands‑on sessions across small mammals, exotics, companion animals and livestock, and help learners develop core practical competencies for employment in the animal care sector.

The role requires a Level 3 or higher in Animal Management, strong practical skills, and the ability to mentor groups with clear feedback.

Qualifications

A Level 3 or higher qualification in Animal Management (or related discipline).
Strong practical skills and experience with a range of species.
Experience delivering or demonstrating practical skills to groups.
Excellent communication, coaching and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

Deliver practical sessions across small mammals, exotics, companion animals and livestock.
Plan and prepare sessions to meet curriculum outcomes.
Demonstrate safe, effective animal handling and husbandry techniques.
Assess practical competence and provide developmental feedback.
Track learner progress, set targets and help students reach their potential.
Prepare materials and resources for practical teaching.
Collaborate with the technical team to ensure sessions run smoothly.
