Job summary

Edinburgh Assay Office is seeking a careful and precise Hallmarking Technician to apply hallmarks to precious metal jewellery by hand. The role involves using hallmarking punches, hammers and small hand tools with a strong emphasis on accuracy and care.

Full training will be provided in-house, and candidates with jewellery experience, especially jobbing jewellers, have a distinct advantage. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, with a living wage employer commitment.

Qualifications

• Excellent manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
• Very good eyesight and the ability to work accurately with small items.
• A careful and methodical approach to work.
• The ability to follow detailed processes and instructions consistently.
• Someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

The work requires patience, concentration and a very high level of manual dexterity, as you will be working with small, valuable items where accuracy and care are essential.**Previous jewellery experience is highly desirable**, and jobbing jewellers will have a particular advantage.
