Job summary

Physis Group seeks a Hair Tutor for Physis Academy in Whitchurch on a part-time basis. The role delivers a broad hair curriculum across multiple qualification pathways, incorporating practical and theoretical teaching in small groups and 1:1 settings.

Start date September 2026, term-time schedule and training attendance. The ideal candidate has NVQ Level 2/3, strong practical hair skills, a full UK driving licence, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils with SEN/SEMH needs.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.
• Recent and relevant industry experience with strong practical skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.
• Experience of working with secondary students with SEN, SEMH and other needs is desirable.
• Eligibility to work in the UK- We do not offer sponsorship.
• Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a broad Hair curriculum across qualification pathways with trauma-informed teaching.
• Provide high-quality practical and theoretical hair tuition in small groups and 1:1 settings.
• Create a safe, nurturing learning environment to support pupils' creativity and employability.
• Collaborate with the wider school team and act as a positive role model for Physis.

Location: Physis Academy, Whitchurch SY13.

Hours: Part Time - 1/2 Days.

Weeks: 39. Term time, plus 5 days (or equivalent hours) for attendance at training / meetings.

Phase: KS3 & KS4

Contract: Permanent

Core Purpose

To deliver a broad, balanced, and engaging Hair curriculum across a range of qualification pathways, tailored to meet the individual needs, interests, and aspirations of each pupil.

To provide high-quality practical and theoretical teaching in hair, adapting learning for small group and 1:1 settings using trauma-informed approaches to support pupils who have experienced adversity.

To create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to explore their creativity, develop practical life and employability skills, and achieve recognised vocational qualifications.

To ensure pupils' special educational needs are met through a consistent, high-quality approach that reflects the organisation's therapeutic values, promoting positive relationships, resilience, and personal growth.

To support pupils in developing professional standards, customer care skills, health and safety awareness, and an understanding of industry expectations, preparing them for successful progression into the workplace.

The ability to contribute to the delivery of additional vocational or enrichment subjects is desirable but not essential.

To work collaboratively as part of the wider school team and act as a positive role model and ambassador for Physis.

The Requirements:

NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.

Recent and relevant experience industry experience with strong practical skills.

Full UK driving licence.

Passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.

Experience of working with secondary students with SEN, SEMH and other needs is desirable.
