Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Hair & Beauty Tutor to work in a specialist SEMH setting in Sherborne. You will teach practical sessions on hairdressing, make-up and nails every Monday from 9:00am to 3:00pm to small groups of around six students.

QTS is not required, but practical industry knowledge and a DBS check are essential. This temporary role runs ASAP until December 2026, with possible continuation.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in hairdressing, beauty or nails.
• Ability to deliver engaging practical sessions to small groups.
• Must have an enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred).

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Hair & Beauty Tutor to work within a specialist SEMH education setting in Sherborne.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with practical industry knowledge who wants to help young people develop new skills, confidence and independence.

The Role

You will work every Monday from 9:00am to 3:00pm, delivering two practical teaching blocks, with one session in the morning and one in the afternoon.

You will work with small groups of approximately 6 students per session, delivering engaging sessions covering:

• Hairdressing
• Make-up
• Nails and beauty
• Practical skills that support students' learning and development

These sessions form part of the students' Occupational Studies programme, giving them the opportunity to explore practical and vocational skills in a supportive environment.

Who are we looking for?

QTS is not required for this opportunity. What is important is that you:

• Have practical experience or knowledge within hairdressing, beauty, make-up or nails
• Are confident delivering practical sessions and sharing your skills with young people
• Have previous experience supporting children, young people or adults with special educational needs
• Are patient, positive and able to engage pupils with SEMH needs
• Can create an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable learning and trying new things
• Are available to work Mondays from 9:00am to 3:00pm
• You will also need an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
