Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a highly motivated Deputy Ward Manager for the Haematology ward. You will support clinical and managerial leadership on the ward and help guide junior staff and students.

The post requires a registered nurse with acute and haematology/cancer experience, capable of mentoring others, coordinating ward activity, and providing leadership in line with OUH values.

Qualifications

• Registered with the NMC (Part 1 or 12).
• Experience in an acute setting and specialist cancer/haematology expertise.
• Proven ward coordination experience and mentoring ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist Ward Manager in providing clinical and managerial leadership.
• Line manage and develop a small team of nurses within the ward establishment.
• Lead ward practice and project work on the ward with evidence-based guidelines and policies.
• Be professionally responsible to patients, maintaining high standards of care.
• Provide an out-of-hours Triage Service and act as a specialist resource to the Trust.
• Regularly act as shift coordinator, allocating workload and ensuring safe bed management.
• Contribute to development of clinical practice per national recommendations.
