Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Unit Manager to lead the Haematology and Oncology Day Unit. You will provide visible clinical and managerial leadership to deliver safe, person-centred care and a positive patient experience.

You will oversee staffing, quality, governance and resources, shaping nursing practice and service improvements while supporting colleagues to learn, grow and succeed.

Qualifications

• Current registration with NMC and any other relevant post-registration qualifications.
• BSc Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Post-registration qualifications for specialty area.
• Leadership development programme.
• Teaching qualification/experience and mentorship course.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the nursing team, taking daily responsibility for management and organisation of the clinical area.
• Ensure a safe, effective, responsive, caring and well-led service with compassionate care and positive patient experience.
• Provide strong professional clinical and managerial leadership to nursing staff and act as a role model.
• Demonstrate highly skilled clinical expertise in Haematology and oncology.
• Contribute to staffing, quality, governance and resource management.
