Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Clinical Haematology to join a team of 12 consultants at Salford Royal Hospital. The post focuses on inpatient and outpatient care, specialist advice across Salford, Bolton and WWL, and participation in regional haematology services.

The role includes leadership in complex malignant haematology cases, development of advanced therapies and involvement in governance, education and research activities.

Qualifications

• Primary medical qualification: MBChB.
• MRCP and FRCPath or equivalent training and experience.
• Completion of PMETB-approved JRCPTB curriculum in Haematology or equivalent knowledge/experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level inpatient and outpatient haematology care.
• Participate in the on-call service and provide specialist haematology advice across Salford Royal, Royal Bolton and Wigan (WWL).
• Manage malignant haematological disorders including complex systemic anti-cancer therapies.
• Contribute to laboratory haematology and blood-film reporting; liaise with lab colleagues.
• Develop advanced treatment pathways including bispecific antibodies and ambulatory models.
• Engage in clinical governance, audit, and patient-safety activities; contribute to teaching and supervision.
• Support research and recruitment to clinical trials; participate in service redesign and workforce planning.
• Collaborate across NCA and with tertiary partners (MFT, The Christie, HODS).
