Job summary

Origin Environmental is seeking a Habitats Operations Manager to lead delivery of habitat creation, restoration, and mitigation projects across the UK. You will coordinate resources, manage contracts, and ensure safety, quality and budget targets are met while maintaining the company ethos.

The role requires senior operational leadership within the Habitat team, with responsibilities for planning, procurement, and client liaison, and offers hybrid working from the head office and sites across

Therolewillinclude:

TheHabitatsOperationsManagerisasenioroperationalleadershiprolewithintheHabitatsTeam,supportingthecoordinationandsuccessfuldeliveryofourportfolioofhabitatcreation,restoration,mitigationandlandmanagementprojectsfromourheadofficeandoperationalyard.

TheHabitatsOperationsManagerreportstoandsupportstheHeadofHabitatsandisexpectedtotakeadepartment-wideviewofworkload,resourcesandoperationalperformance,helpingtheteamachieveitsannualtargetswhilstmaintainingKeystone’sethos,values,standards,andapproachtoriskandqualitymanagement.

Theyplayanactiveroleindepartmentalplanning,resourcecoordination,projectmanagementandclientliaison.TheywillbetaskedwithquotingforworkandworkingwiththeHeadofHabitatsandBidManagertobidformorecomplextenders,undertakingcontractsmanagementasrequireduponaward.

Therolecombinesoperationalleadershipwithprojectandcommercialmanagement.TheOperationsManagerwillmaintainoversightofexistingcontracts,supportthemobilisationofnewprojectsandprovidevisibilityofprogramme,resourceandfinancialperformanceacrossthedepartment.

OneofthekeyrequirementsoftheroleistoleadandcoordinatetheHabitatsContractsManagersandwiderdeliveryteamtoplanandcoordinatedeliveryofbothexistingandupcomingworks,ensuringthatthenecessaryresources,plant,tools,andmaterialsareprocuredanddeployedinatimelyfashiontodeliverprojectsontimeandwithinbudget.

TheOperationsManagerwillalsoplayanimportantroleinsupportinganddevelopingtheHabitatsmanagementteam,maintaininghighstandardsofhealth,safety,qualityandenvironmentalperformance,anddrivingcontinualimprovementinthesystemsandprocessesthroughwhichthedepartmentoperates.

Keyresponsibilitiesinclude:

• LeadandcoordinateoperationaldeliveryacrosstheHabitatsportfolio,ensuringprojectsareappropriatelyplanned,resourcedandsupportedfrommobilisationthroughtocompletion.

1. ManageandsupportContractsManagersandthewideroperationalteam,providingclearpriorities,guidanceandescalationwhererequired.

• Ensureprojectsaredeliveredsafely,ontime,withinbudget,andtothehighestqualitystandards.

• Coordinatesiteteams,subcontractors,plant,andresourcestoachievesuccessfulprojectoutcomes.

• Maintainoversightofcurrentandupcomingworkload,coordinatinglabour,plant,equipment,materialsandsubcontractorstomeetprojectprogrammesandoperationalpriorities.

• Leadandmanagehabitatrestoration,landscaping,ecologicalmitigationandenhancementprojectsdirectlywhererequired,particularlythosethatarecomplex,high-valueorstrategicallyimportant.

• Supportthepreparationofquotations,tenders,andproposalstosecurenewworkandmaintainbusinessgrowth.

• Buildandmaintainstrongclientrelationships,drivingrepeatbusinessandidentifyingnewopportunities.

• Providetechnicalguidanceandhigh-leveladvicetoclients,projectteams,andstakeholders.

• Produceandreviewprojectdocumentation,includingreports,methodstatements,riskassessments,constructionphaseplans,programmes,andqualityrecords.

• Monitorprojectperformance,financials,andinvoicingtoensurecommercialtargetsareachieved.
• WorkingalongsidetheHeadofHabitats,monitorwideroperationalandcommercialperformance,includinglabourutilisation,procurement,variations,forecasting,invoicingandprojectclose-out.

• Conductqualityassurance,health&safetyinspections,andensurecompliancewithrelevantlegislationandindustrystandards.

• Supportthedevelopment,mentoring,andperformancemanagementofHabitatsteammembers.

• Supportrecruitment,successionplanningandthedevelopmentofclearprogressionopportunitiesacrosstheHabitatsteam.

• Collaboratewithinternalteamstomaintainoperationalstandards,clientsatisfaction,andcontinuousimprovement.

• WorkcloselywithEcology,Arboriculture&Forestry,andothercompaniesingroupandotherOriginEnvironmentalelementstosupportintegratedprojectdeliveryandbusinessgrowth.

• Representthebusinessprofessionallywithclients,industrypartners,andatnetworkingorindustryevents.

KeyRequirements:

• Provenexperiencemanaginghabitatrestoration,landscaping,ecologicalenhancement,orenvironmentalprojectsfrominceptiontocompletion.

• Strongprojectmanagementskills,withtheabilitytodeliverprojectssafely,ontime,withinbudget,andtohigh-qualitystandards.

• Experiencecoordinatingsiteteams,subcontractors,plant,andresourcesacrossmultipleprojects.

• Experiencemanagingorsupportingoperationalmanagersanddeliveryteamsacrossaportfolioofconcurrentprojects.
