Job Purpose: A Private Hire Company Driver is responsible for driving passenger-carrying vehicles, ensuring excellent customer service, and providing a safe and comfortable journey within the HATS home-to-school services network.

About The Role

Main Duties:

• Ensure safety and wellbeing of clients throughout the journey and handover.
• Wear high visibility PPE in vehicle movement areas.
• Observe speed limits within depots and school premises.
• Check vehicle condition before service by conducting safety walk-round checks.
• Report any vehicle or equipment defects promptly.
• Complete Vehicle Defect Cards or enter defects electronically.
• Keep the vehicle clean and tidy before starting service.
• Comply with laws and company policies regarding mobile phones, smoking, and prohibited equipment.
• Ensure health, safety, security, and environmental procedures are followed, including attending safety briefings and training.
• Report safety incidents following company procedures.
• Understand emergency and evacuation plans.
• Maintain a safe and tidy bus cab area.
• Provide high standards of customer service and information during journeys.
• Behave professionally and courteously to customers and colleagues.
• Assist vulnerable and special needs passengers appropriately.
• Drive vehicles safely, legally, and professionally, adhering to timetables when safe.
• Stay updated on road conditions affecting service.
• Maintain valid driving and PCO licenses and ensure they are available for inspection.

Driver Responsibilities:

• Ensure licenses are valid, up-to-date, and medical renewals are current.
• Report any license changes affecting driving entitlement.
• Report to work on time with proper equipment and dress code.
• Refrain from working when tired or under influence.
• Follow notification procedures for absences and incidents.
• Participate in annual appraisals and provide service improvement feedback.
• Adhere to all HATS policies and procedures.
• Perform any reasonable requests from the company.

Work Environment

The role involves flexible hours, primarily between 07:00-09:00 and 14:30-16:30, with additional shifts as needed. The work is mainly outdoors, requiring safe and efficient operation in all weather and traffic conditions.
