Job Description

Location: 1 Elkstone Road

We operate a fleet of over 800 vehicles, supporting various healthcare institutions with over 2,000,000 passenger movements annually.

We are seeking a Passenger Assistant to join our team. The working hours are from 07:00 - 10:00 and 14:00 - 17:00 daily. This is a 16-hour contract.

Job Purpose

To escort and assist clients with special needs, ensuring safe boarding, travel, and alighting from vehicles.

Organizational Position

Team leader > Controller > Passenger Assistant

Main Duties

1. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients throughout the journey and handover.
2. Assist clients with boarding and alighting, including those with severe disabilities.
3. Maintain appropriate communication with the Controller regarding transport issues.
4. Apply health and safety standards, including securing wheelchairs and assisting with disabilities.
5. Keep the vehicle clean and maintain hygiene standards.
6. Work flexible hours, mainly between 07:00 - 09:00 and 14:30 – 16:30, and report incidents as needed.
7. Work outdoors in various weather and traffic conditions, ensuring safety at all times.
8. Ensure no physical or mental limitations interfere with client safety and emergency activities.

Daily Functions

1. Operate equipment like tail lifts and restraints daily.
2. Assist with dressing and toileting for identified clients.

Work Dimensions

Work within established guidelines but use initiative for basic problems; consult supervisors for complex issues.

Role and Contacts

Interact with clients, their families, carers, and staff in a multi-ethnic environment, providing assistance and information as needed.
