The CQC is an independent regulator responsible for the registration, inspection, and monitoring of health and social care providers. HATS Group provides Private Ambulances, which are regulated by the CQC.

HATS Group is also regulated by Local Authorities for services under SEND. Known for professionalism and excellence, with a fleet of over 800 vehicles, we support various healthcare institutions, delivering over 2,000,000 passenger movements annually.

We have an opportunity for a Passenger Assistant to join our team.

Working hours: 07:00 - 10:00 and 14:00 - 17:00 daily. This is a 16-hour contract.

Job Purpose

To escort and assist clients with special needs, ensuring safe boarding and alighting from vehicles for their journeys to and from home, school, or other destinations.

About The Role
Main Duties
  1. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients throughout the journey and handover.
  2. Assist clients in gaining safe entry to vehicles and destinations.
  3. Support clients with disabilities during boarding and alighting, using appropriate means and physical assistance if necessary.
  4. Maintain communication with the Controller regarding transport issues like disruptive behavior, absenteeism, or lateness.
  5. Apply health and safety standards, including assisting with boarding/alighting, securing clients and wheelchairs, and ensuring vehicle hygiene.
  6. Participate in flexible working hours and report incidents or problems to the Controller.
  7. Work primarily outdoors, in all weather conditions, ensuring safety at all times.
  8. Must not have physical or mental limitations that interfere with passenger safety and assistance activities.
Daily Functions
  1. Operate equipment like tail lifts and restraints daily.
  2. Perform manual handling activities such as pushing, lifting, and supporting clients.
  3. Assist clients with dressing and toileting if needed.

Variations depend on individual client needs, including mobility, learning difficulties, or age.

Work Environment

The role involves working within established guidelines but may require using initiative for basic problem-solving, with complex issues escalated to supervisors.

Contact and Relationships

Interact with parents, guardians, carers, teachers, and staff in a multi-ethnic environment, providing information and assistance. Good interpersonal skills are essential.

The role requires disclosure of any criminal offenses, as the position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Equipment Use

May involve using mobile communications, tracking, radio, and GPS devices, with accountability for equipment use.
