HATS Group is also regulated by local authorities for services delivered under SEND. Recognized for professionalism and excellence, with a fleet of over 800 vehicles, we support various healthcare institutions, delivering over 2 million passenger movements annually.

We are looking for a Passenger Assistant to join our team. The role requires working Monday to Friday with flexible hours, primarily between 07:00 - 09:00 and 14:30 – 16:30.

Job Purpose

To escort and assist clients with special needs, ensuring their safe boarding and alighting from vehicles for daily journeys to and from home, school, or other destinations.

About The Role

Main Duties

• Ensure clients' safety and wellbeing throughout the journey and handover.
• Assist clients in gaining safe entry and exit from vehicles or destinations.
• Maintain appropriate communication with the Controller regarding transport issues.
• Apply health and safety standards, including assisting with severe disabilities and securing wheelchairs.
• Ensure vehicle cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained, including wearing PPE and uniforms.
• Work flexible hours as scheduled, reporting incidents or problems to the Controller.
• Work predominantly outdoors, in all weather and traffic conditions, ensuring safety at all times.
• Must not have physical or mental limitations that interfere with client safety or emergency activities.

Daily Functions

• Operate equipment like tail lifts and restraints daily.
• Assist with manual handling activities, including dressing and toileting for identified clients.

Variations depend on clients’ needs, including mobility, learning difficulties, mental health, age, and disability. The role involves potential risks to personal safety, injury, and health.

Work Dimensions

Work within established guidelines, using initiative for basic problems, and consulting supervisors for complex issues.

Role and Contacts

Interact with parents, guardians, carers, teachers, and other staff, providing assistance and information. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, disclosure of offences may be required.
