Health & Safety Manager

Location: Newport, South Wales

Project Type: Large-Scale Construction Project

Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent

About The Role

My client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager from a construction background to join our team on a flagship construction project in Newport. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering one of the region’s most high-profile developments while ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are maintained throughout.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage all Health & Safety aspects of the project, ensuring full compliance with current legislation and company standards.
  2. Carry out regular site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
  3. Develop and implement site-specific H&S plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  4. Act as the primary point of contact for all H&S matters on site.
  5. Liaise with site teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture.
  6. Deliver toolbox talks and safety training sessions as required.
  7. Maintain accurate records and reports of all safety activities, incidents, and inspections.
Requirements
  1. NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or higher) is essential.
  2. Proven experience in a Health & Safety Manager or Advisor role on large construction projects.
  3. In-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation and construction best practices.
  4. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  5. Ability to influence and engage with teams at all levels.
Desirable
  1. Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH or higher).
  2. Experience with large civil or infrastructure projects.
  3. First Aid at Work qualification.
