Overview

Job Title: Health & Social Care and Sociology Teacher (Cover)

Contract Type: Temporary / Cover (Full-time or Part-time)
Location: Bournemouth
Reports to: Head of Social Sciences

Purpose of the Role:

To deliver engaging and effective lessons in Health & Social Care and Sociology, ensuring continuity of learning and high standards of achievement during staff absence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Health & Social Care and Sociology at KS4 and KS5 in line with departmental plans and exam board specifications.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that motivates and challenges students.
  • Assess, record, and report on student progress in accordance with school policy.
  • Maintain good classroom behaviour and uphold the school s expectations and values.
  • Support students in developing analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency in teaching and learning.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and professional development activities.
Person Specification

Essential:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Sociology, Health & Social Care, Social Sciences).
  • Experience teaching KS4 and/or KS5 students.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.

Desirable:

  • Experience with BTEC or Cambridge Nationals qualifications.
  • Ability to contribute to related subjects (e.g., PSHE or Citizenship).
