Job summary

Hyde Group, an established high-tech engineering company, is recruiting a GRP Laminator to operate at North West Aerotooling in Dukinfield. The role involves lay-up with carbon fibre, glass fibre and wet lay-up, following strict drawings and production docs to ensure first-time quality.

You will prepare, vacuum bag, cure and set up autoclave processes, while maintaining safety, housekeeping and a proactive team attitude. Competitive salary and growth opportunities offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out material lay-up using pre-preg carbon fibre, glass fibre and wet lay-up.
• Prepare and apply composite materials in line with job requirements and standards.

• Work from drawings, templates and production docs to ensure parts meet specs.
• Inspect finished work for quality and report defects.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace and support the production team.

Main Duties

• Carry out material lay-up work using pre-impregnated carbon fibre, glass fibre and wet lay-up techniques.
• Prepare, handle and apply composite materials accurately in line with job requirements, work instructions and quality standards.
• Complete vacuum bagging, curing and autoclave preparation processes to support the manufacture of high-quality composite components.
• Work from technical drawings, templates and production documentation to ensure components are manufactured to specification.
• Inspect finished work for quality, accuracy and consistency, reporting any issues or defects to the relevant team member.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area, following all company health, safety and housekeeping standards.
• Support the wider production team with additional manufacturing tasks where required.

Desired Experience

• Previous experience in a laminating, composites, aerospace, automotive, marine or high-quality manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with carbon fibre, glass fibre, pre-preg materials or wet lay-up processes would be advantageous.
• Experience following technical drawings, job cards, work instructions or standard operating procedures.
• Background in producing work to tight tolerances, quality standards and customer specifications.
• Experience using hand tools, cutting equipment, trimming tools or basic workshop equipment.
• Understanding of vacuum bagging, curing, bonding, finishing or inspection processes would be beneficial.
• A strong awareness of health, safety, housekeeping and quality control within a production setting.
