Job summary

Liberty Recruitment Group, on behalf of their client, is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller in Portsmouth. The role is full-time and permanent, offering a salary up to £40,000 with exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

You will oversee reporting, balance sheets, fixed assets, and month-end processes while supporting continuous improvement and audits. A proactive, detail-focused finance professional is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of reconciliations, financial controls and month-end processes.
• Experience using Sage 50 would be advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing regular collection runs and ensuring all reporting and administration are completed accurately.
• Acting as a key contact with the company's banking partner, ensuring changes are implemented efficiently and with minimal disruption.
• Supporting the Underwriter Finance team with monthly bordereaux submissions and reconciliations.
• Assisting the Financial Controller with monthly Group reporting requirements.
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls.
• Maintaining accurate fixed asset records and registers.
• Ensuring claims revenue is recorded accurately and funds are transferred appropriately.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
• Assisting with year-end statutory audits and other audit requirements as required.
