At Appwrite, we're looking for a Platform Engineer to join our integrations team. You’ll play a key role in building scalable, reliable systems that support our platform and user base growth. Your work will involve backend services, data pipelines, and automation tools that facilitate experimentation, user acquisition, retention, and performance optimization.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, redundant, and reliable APIs and backend services.
- Develop and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules using tools like Terraform across multiple cloud providers.
- Build internal tooling for environment provisioning, deployments, and configuration management.
- Collaborate with product and platform teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Support growth engineering efforts such as user onboarding automation, referral tracking, and engagement analytics.
- Develop and maintain secure, accurate, and compliant billing and payment systems.
- Ensure systems are observable, secure, and industry-compliant.
- Monitor service health and performance, and identify areas for optimization.
- Contribute to a great developer experience through automation, reliable systems, and well-documented tooling.
- Stay updated on cloud-native development, DevOps practices, and distributed systems.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in backend, cloud, or infrastructure-heavy roles.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or DigitalOcean.
- Automation scripting skills in Bash, Python, etc.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and tools like GitHub Actions.
- Backend development experience with PHP, Node.js, Python, Dart, Go, or Ruby.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), message brokers (RabbitMQ), and caching solutions (Redis).
- Understanding of web protocols (HTTP, TCP, UDP) and architectural patterns.
- Experience with growth-oriented backend systems and billing infrastructures is a plus.
- Passion for open-source, developer tools, and maintainable code.
