Job summary

Carlisle Diocese is seeking a Growing Younger Mission & Discipleship Enabler to work with St James’ & St Mark’s churches in Barrow-in-Furness. You will help develop creative and sustainable opportunities for children and young people to encounter Jesus, grow in faith and become active church members.

Joining a wider team, you will build relationships with local schools, equip volunteer leaders and explore new ways of engaging families and young people.

Could you help the next generation discover and follow Jesus?

We're looking for an enthusiastic and committed Christian to join the teams at St James’ and St Mark’s churches in Barrow-in-Furness, helping us grow our connections with children, young people and families.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in Rising Faith Barrow, part of the Diocese of Carlisle's The Cumbrian Way programme, as we seek to grow younger, more diverse and more missional Christian communities across our changing town.

Working alongside clergy, volunteers and local partners, you'll help develop creative and sustainable opportunities for children and young people to encounter Jesus, grow in faith and become active members of the church. This will include developing children's and youth ministry, building relationships with local schools, equipping volunteer leaders and exploring new ways of engaging with families and young people.

We're looking for someone with a heart for sharing the gospel with the next generation, experience in children's and youth ministry, and the ability to encourage, equip and work alongside others.

You'll be joining a wider team of people committed to seeing churches across Barrow renewed and new generations discovering the hope of Jesus Christ.

This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week.

Salary £29,260 plus 15% non-contributory.

This post is subject to an occupational requirement that the postholder be a practising Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
