Job summary

Growing Well in Kendal, Cumbria, is recruiting a GROWING ACTIVITY LEAD to oversee field-based activities for our beneficiaries at Low Sizergh Farm near Kendal. The role is permanent, 37.5 hours per week, with a salary of £27,000-£30,000 p.a., dependent on experience.

You will work alongside our current activity leads, delivering horticultural skills development and coordinating with the Mental Health Support Coordinator to tailor pathways for each beneficiary’s goals.

Qualifications

• 2+ years practical experience in commercial (organic) production horticulture / market gardening, including field-scale and polytunnel work.
• Organic horticultural production and pest/weed control practices.
• Knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions.
• High standard of written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced grower with excellent horticultural and interpersonal skills to work alongside our existing team in leading field-based activities for our beneficiaries at our site at Low Sizergh Farm near Kendal.

The Role Of The Growing Activity Lead Includes

• Working alongside our existing two activity leads in the delivery of field-based, individual goals-based activity for adults experiencing mental ill health, in the context of a thriving commercial growing enterprise.
• Working collaboratively with Mental Health Support Coordinator to establish the best occupationally-focused pathways to mental health recovery, tailored to each individual beneficiary’s goals.
• Delivering horticultural skills development to our beneficiaries as part of the horticultural activity, in tune with the season, the needs of the business and individual Volunteers’ needs with particular focus on heritage skills.
