Group Transport and Trade Compliance Manager Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Group Transport & Trade Compliance Manager to join a well-established and globally-operating engineering and distribution group. This senior role is integral to the business, responsible for shaping and leading international trade compliance and logistics strategy across multiple operating units. You'll act as the group's expert, delivering efficient, customer-centric solutions that turn compliance into a competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement best-in-class import/export processes for international, inter-company, and drop-ship transactions.
  • Serve as the main point of accountability for trade compliance and commercial documentation across the group.
  • Maintain import/export lane matrices and ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, and compliant.
  • Lead reporting on key logistics KPIs, including On-Time Delivery (OTD), freight spend, consolidation, lead times, and compliance metrics.
  • Analyse freight data and supplier performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Manage and improve strategic relationships with global logistics providers through regular performance reviews and action plans.
  • Drive internal alignment and support between operations, sales, finance, and compliance teams.
  • Oversee carrier data analysis, cost tracking, and resolve freight billing discrepancies.
  • Evaluate transport impacts of new projects and lead the successful delivery of logistics-related initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes using lean tools and methodologies.

Group Transport and Trade Compliance Manager Job Requirements

  • Strong understanding of trade compliance, especially within the US
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in international transport, logistics, and trade compliance.
  • Proven track record of delivering cost efficiencies and process enhancements.
  • Deep understanding of global import/export practices, documentation, and freight network optimization.
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Capable of influencing decision-making across all business levels.
  • Experience in leading supplier reviews, benchmarking, and freight tenders.
  • Entrepreneurial thinker who is proactive and solutions-driven.
