Job description

Provide support and assistance to the Group Head of Finance on tax strategy, planning initiatives, and management of tax risk. Manage Group’s Day to Day taxation affairs covering corporate and indirect taxes including compliance and reporting. Acting as the first point of contact within the business, with HMRC and overseas tax authorities.

  • Provide support on all tax matters including tax strategy and tax-efficient planning initiatives.
  • Provide tax support on all aspects of corporate and business transactions including due diligence.
  • Manage tax risk to achieve the optimal tax rate and cash tax position.
  • Manage cross border tax issues including transfer pricing, subsidiary structures and remittances and ensure robust frameworks are in place.
  • Provide relevant tax support on Canaccord Group (Canada) tax initiatives.
  • Provide tax input on the Group’s transfer pricing arrangements with overseas establishments.
  • Manage corporation tax compliance in the jurisdictions in which the WM and UK capital markets business operate. Manage the UK Group’s CT payments on account.
  • Implement and document processes for compliance with the SAO and MTD regime.
  • Prepare and/or review of corporation and deferred tax provisions calculations carried out by the finance teams and tax disclosures in the statutory financial statements.
  • Provision of VAT support to the Wealth Management and Capital Markets business where required.
  • Review and management of VAT compliance, PESM, quarterly returns and annual recovery rate.
  • Employer tax compliance reporting oversight: Share plans, STBV and PSA. Supporting HR with PAYE and general employment tax queries.
  • Assessing the impact of changes in tax law and accounting principles on the business.
  • Liaison with industry bodies and point of contact with HMRC and advisors.
  • Be proactive in developing your knowledge of the industry and the market. Undertake and record relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to develop knowledge and skills.

Candidate requirement

Sound technical knowledge across CT, VAT and employment taxes. In particular working knowledge of SSE, CFC, CIR rules and BEPS initiatives.
