If you’re seeking an exciting and thoroughly rewarding career in Strategy Regulation, Severn Trent is the place to be.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Improving our environment is a key priority at Severn Trent, supported by a diverse team of experts.

The Group Sustainability team is responsible for creating, implementing, and delivering the group's sustainability strategy. This includes supporting activities across the group, leading the delivery of our net zero target, and collaborating with experts.

We are seeking an experienced Group Sustainability Lead to address challenges, provide expert input into reporting, and enable the business to respond to changing requirements, both strategically and operationally.

It requires proactive promotion of sustainability, devising future policies collaboratively, and working with Senior Management and the Board to support the delivery of ODIs.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Devise and deliver policy changes to ensure we are achieving our wider business targets.
  • Develop a strong relevant agenda for Energy Steer Co, delivering appropriate governance for our sustainability programs (This will include writing and delivering papers to this Board level forum).
  • Spotting trends and opportunities for enhancing our environmental policies and find innovative ways of bringing them into the ST business to ensure we continue our market-leading position.
  • Ensure that sustainability is part of ST decision-making at the most senior levels in the organisation.
  • Where appropriate, join the dots across our environmental policies and practices to ensure we are working as effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Build a ‘go to’ reputation for the group sustainability team by demonstrating a helpful and positive attitude.
  • Provide expert knowledge and thought leadership across a broad range of sustainability topics.
  • Be a spokesperson and deal with investor and media queries when called upon to do so.
  • Lead the group sustainability team and support the team's development.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years demonstrable experience in sustainability, promoting sustainability issues and carbon management in the corporate sector, along with expert knowledge of relevant regulations, obligations, standards, and the science of climate change and GHG emissions.

You will have experience in developing and delivering climate change mitigation and emissions reduction strategies, policies, and advice.

You should be passionate about advocating for net zero issues within the business, with a track record of delivering change through advocacy.

The ability to drive change in a team, deliver improved performance, influence decision-making at senior management levels, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams is also essential.

Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We’ll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognize great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.

  • Car allowance of £5,208 per annum (pro-rata where applicable).
  • Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%).
