A specialist manufacturing company in the West Midlands seeks a Group Quality Manager to oversee compliance, manage quality systems, and drive improvement initiatives within aerospace and industrial sectors. Candidates should have substantial experience in quality management, HND/technical qualifications, and strong leadership skills. Some UK and international travel will be required for audits and collaborative activities, supporting a growing and stable organization dedicated to quality and safety policies.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in Quality management.
  • Experience in a production engineering environment, preferably aerospace/defense.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Quality compliance requirements and market relevant risks/opportunities.
  • Support manufacturing, product development, supply chain, logistics, and sales/marketing activities.
  • Manage the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Conduct problem analysis, process analysis, and implementation of preventive actions.
  • Prepare and write Quality reports.
  • Liaise with external parties regarding Quality and HSE matters.

Job description

Group Quality Manager

Working within a specialist EDM, machining and grinding operation in the West Midlands, our firmly established client is seeking an experienced Group Quality Manager (with HSE awareness) to support their ongoing manufacturing growth activity within the global aerospace and industrial sectors.

Based primarily at their site near Wolverhampton, but having close working activity with the Group sister site near Halesowen, this role will report to the Group Operations Director and key responsibilities will include:

- Manage all Quality compliance requirements and market relevant risks/opportunities

- Track external developments specific to the UK and US/global aerospace sectors which may affect the business operation

- Support manufacturing, product development, supply chain, logistics and sales/marketing activities

- Manage the QMS

- Complete problem analysis, process analysis, the identification of process improvements and the implementation of preventive actions alongside the existing quality inspection teams

- Actively manage and develop Quality focussed groups within the company as required

- Manage/develop a structured performance assessment process for systems, process and products

- Identify opportunities for improvements relating to Quality

- Assist in the evaluation of non-conformances relating to product, process and business systems with recommendations for solution

- Preparation and write Quality reports

- Liaise with external parties, i.e. customers, accreditation bodies, suppliers on matters relating to Q (plus HSE).

- Hold responsibility for all audit and certification activity

- Support the evaluation and audit of sub-contractors and suppliers

- Maintain and further expand/establish proactive and preventative health, safety and environmental (QHSE) policies while ensuring compliance with current legislation.

On a permanent basis, you will need to have:

- Min HND or equivalent in a technical discipline

- 5+ years' experience in Quality

- Knowledge of ISO and AS9100 requirements

- Worked within a production engineering environment - preferably aerospace/defence

- Completed risk assessments and COSHH assessments

- Completed accident/incident investigation

- Implemented pro-active problem-solving techniques: 8D methodology, FMEA, 5s and lean manufacturing
