We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Quality Assurance team, reporting to the Global QA Director. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure our toy products comply with legal and regulatory requirements across different markets. You will monitor, interpret, and implement global safety and compliance standards, providing technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle. The role is based in Cheadle, Cheshire.

As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest industry compliance standards. You will work closely with global teams to align and implement technical standards, monitor regulatory updates, and provide expert guidance on product safety and compliance. Additionally, you will contribute to policy development, training programs, and risk assessments to ensure our products meet all necessary regulations.

Your key functions will include:

  1. Providing expert guidance on product regulatory compliance, interpreting Directives, Regulations, and Safety Standards including but not limited to EN 71, ASTM, battery-operated, electrically operated products, and cosmetics.
  2. Regularly reviewing and updating company policies to align with current legislation and best practices.
  3. Collaborating with global teams to ensure alignment and implementation of technical standards and directives.
  4. Monitoring and analyzing regulatory updates, conducting risk and impact assessments.
  5. Assisting in developing and maintaining compliance policies and manuals.
  6. Providing training sessions, webinars, and presentations to enhance compliance knowledge across the business.
  7. Supporting internal and external customers with technical compliance queries.
  8. Staying informed about industry changes, including product safety, international regulations, physical and chemical requirements, and import regulations.
  9. Sharing regulatory updates with relevant teams and informing factories about required changes when necessary.
  10. Participating in industry association meetings and technical policy committees, building partnerships and networks as required, including attending technical committee meetings.

Knowledge and characteristics required:

  1. 5+ years of experience in Product Compliance Assessment within the toy industry or related consumer goods sector.
  2. Extensive knowledge of safety standards, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
  3. Strong understanding of product and technical standards for a long-term supply strategy.
  4. Experience in consumer product safety testing and global regulatory requirements.
  5. Up-to-date knowledge of recent regulatory developments with excellent analytical skills to assess regulatory changes and their impact.
  6. A university degree in Textile Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  7. Experience in designing product specifications to meet global safety regulations.
  8. Ability to build relationships with regulatory authorities and industry associations.
  9. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
