In this role, you will lead the Energy Transition Process team to develop innovative solutions for complex problems, delivering projects at various stages of maturity. Working within a large multidisciplinary engineering group, you will oversee process plant designs across energy projects such as power plants, carbon capture, hydrogen, gas networks, waste-to-energy, and industrial facilities.

This role is ideal if you have experience in concept, FEED, and detailed design, and are familiar with OEM, EPC contractors, or similar organizations. Experience in operations, maintenance, and asset integrity would be advantageous for providing clients with technical advice on existing facilities.

You will collaborate with the Head of Engineering and technical leads to meet strategic goals. Location is flexible across our UK offices.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading the process engineering team to deliver technically excellent solutions.
  • Working on projects from feasibility to detailed design, including site work during construction and commissioning.
  • Preparing process models, datasheets, balances, flow diagrams, and process philosophies.
  • Developing internal tools and calculations.
  • Providing technical leadership and governance.
  • Developing innovative designs that differentiate WSP.
  • Promoting innovation and applying engineering principles to first-of-a-kind projects.
  • Collaborating across teams and supporting business development and bidding processes.
  • Identifying skills gaps and recruiting technical staff.
  • Maintaining and improving design processes and procedures.
  • Supporting UK-wide best practices and interface with iCRC.
  • Managing workload, resource utilization, and team development.

Your Team

Our energy transition team specializes in low or zero-carbon technologies, working globally with clients and partners to deliver projects safely and effectively throughout their lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in relevant engineering (Chemical preferred).
  • Chartered Chemical Engineer and member of a relevant institute.
  • Significant postgraduate process design experience.
  • Leadership in process deliverables development.
  • Knowledge of power and energy project design, including low-carbon technologies.
  • Proficiency with process design software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Thermoflow).
  • Experience working with clients and contractors with diverse objectives.
