UK Payroll Manager - Permanent Role | Reading HQ | Hybrid Working
An exciting opportunity for a hands-on position leading a small team of two Payroll Assistants within a dynamic and friendly Finance department.

You'll be responsible for managing the Group payroll for over 800 employees, ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations and delivering accurate, timely payroll services. With the support of your team, you'll oversee all payroll-related duties and play a pivotal role in wider finance projects and process improvements as the payroll lead.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and process payroll for 800+ employees across the Group
  • Ensure full compliance with current payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • Manage all payroll components including salaries, benefits, and deductions
  • Maintain and update payroll data with precision and accuracy
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure correct employee records (new starters, leavers, changes)
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure timely, accurate payments
  • Produce payroll reports for senior management
  • Stay informed on legislative changes and adapt processes accordingly
  • Contribute to finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing multiple payrolls at Group level (ideally 6+)
  • Strong technical proficiency with ADP systems
  • In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in payroll software and systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • CIPP qualification preferred but not essential
