Job summary

Matchtech is working with a rapidly growing infrastructure group to appoint a Group Operations Director in the UK. You will lead a diverse portfolio and partner with the CEO to shape strategy, scale operations and improve performance across units.

You will own operational delivery, safety, quality and profitability, and drive the group's expansion into the EHV market delivering 132kV–400kV projects with board-level exposure and long-term growth opportunity.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience within Power/Utilities/Infrastructure.
• Experience at Operations Director, Regional Director, or MD level.
• Strong understanding of power infrastructure delivery.
• Experience delivering 132kV to 400kV projects.
• Commercial acumen with large contracts and portfolios.
• Knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC frameworks.

Group Operations Director

Our client is a rapidly growing Infrastructure Group operating across the Power, Utilities and Construction sectors. Due to continued expansion and ambitious growth plans, they are seeking an experienced Group Operations Director to join the executive leadership team and work alongside the CEO to drive the next phase of business growth.

This is a pivotal appointment that will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple business units, with full accountability for operational performance, project delivery, profitability, safety, quality and long-term growth.

A key focus of the role will be supporting the group's expansion within the EHV market, making this an excellent opportunity for an individual with proven experience delivering projects from 132kV to 400kV.

The Role

As Group Operations Director, you will provide leadership across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects ranging from 11kV through to 400kV, ensuring exceptional operational, commercial and safety performance throughout the business. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, you will play a leading role in shaping business strategy, scaling operations and strengthening the group's market position across the UK.

• Manage the commercial and contractual performance of major projects and frameworks
• Provide executive oversight of NEC and FIDIC contract delivery
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability and self-delivery capability
• Support business development, tendering and strategic growth initiatives
• Strengthen relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners
• Develop and mentor senior operational leaders across the organisation

Candidate Requirements

• Proven leadership experience within the Power, Utilities, Energy or Infrastructure sectors
• Previous experience operating at Operations Director, Regional Director, Business Unit Director, Managing Director or equivalent level
• Strong understanding of power infrastructure, transmission and distribution project delivery
• Demonstrable experience delivering projects from 132kV to 400kV
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing large-scale contracts and project portfolios
• Working knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC contractual frameworks
• Track record of driving business growth, operational performance and profitability
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to influence business strategy at executive level
