Group Manager, Children's Homes – Hull City Council

Up to £40 per hour

Hull City Council is a leading provider of Children's Homes, offering a wide and varied service to meet the complex needs of our city's children and young people. We are seeking a highly skilled, innovative, and experienced Group Manager to provide exceptional leadership and support to our Registered Managers and drive quality across our residential provision.

This is a pivotal role requiring a commitment to high-quality practice and a strong presence in Hull. You will spend the majority of your time on the ground, building robust, in-person relationships with our Registered Managers, the Children\'s Homes team, and social care colleagues across the Council.

Responsibilities
  • Service Oversight: Support and oversee approximately 6 Children\'s Homes within a specific area of service, which may include Access & Assessment, Locality, Disability, or the Looked After Children Service.
  • Practice Leadership: Manage and oversee the delivery of high-quality social work activities within the Hull Children\'s Social Care Practice Model across the homes. This covers a range of specialisms within Children\'s Social Care (e.g., Children\'s Residential, Child Protection, Children in Need).
  • Quality and Standards: Hold a high level of focus on the development and raising of quality in practice, setting standards, and ensuring the conditions required for successful social work are met within each home.
  • Outcomes Focus: Strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people in need and their families, ensuring their voices are at the heart of our service delivery.
  • Manager Support: Provide crucial line management, guidance, and support to the Registered Managers, enabling them to meet regulatory requirements and deliver outstanding care.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across Fostering, Adoption, Children with Disabilities, and other key service areas to ensure seamless and integrated care pathways for children.
About You
  • Significant management experience within children\'s residential services or a relevant area of Children\'s Social Care.
  • An in-depth understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework governing Children\'s Homes (e.g., Children\'s Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements).
  • A proven track record of driving up quality and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead, mentor, and build trust with a diverse team of professionals.
  • The commitment to be physically present in Hull for the majority of your working week to provide active, visible leadership.
