We are seeking a Group Manager passionate about working with adolescents, with a proven track record of maintaining high practice standards. The role is within the Integrated Adolescent Safeguarding Service, including Safe Space for 11-17-year-olds at risk of extra-familial harm and the Youth Justice Service. The service also responds to children who go missing and are affected by youth homelessness.

The Group Manager will lead Safe Space, the statutory safeguarding division, taking referrals directly from MASH and providing post-assessment support, usually via CIN processes or CP if appropriate. A small cohort of children in the service are children looked after, supported in line with CLA processes and legislation.

Safe Space is a double award-winning service, commended in recent OFSTED reports.

The ideal candidate should have experience leading or working in adolescent, R&A, or safeguarding teams or services.

Main Purpose of the Job:

  • Provide senior management within the service area.
  • Support, guide, and manage operational reports. Provide senior management coverage as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver high-quality, value-for-money services supporting vulnerable children and families.
  • Ensure timely allocation and throughput for all children, performance standards are met, and data is reliable and high quality.

Experience:

  • Successful management experience in a local authority.
  • Experience delivering statutory social work services with good outcomes.
  • Management of diverse professional staff.
  • Experience managing large budgets and leading change.
  • Building and developing partnerships.
  • Performance management expertise.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Understanding of statistical analysis and research application.
  • Leadership and staff motivation skills.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • Understanding of council strategies and priorities.

Education and Qualifications:

Social Work England registration.
