Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Integration and Development Manager to lead the group’s integration and development functions. You will shape strategic planning, implement integration technologies, and ensure resilience and alignment with digital transformation objectives across the Hospitals Group.

The role emphasises cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders, suppliers, and partners, driving continuous improvement and the evolution of teams

Qualifications

  • Masters degree or equivalent in numerical subject and evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Extensive experience in a Software Development or Integration Team at a senior level in an Acute NHS Trust.
  • Experience managing people and large technical teams; change management.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex information issues and communicate with staff at all levels.
  • Full IT service lifecycle exposure (ITIL).
  • Expert knowledge of relational database development (MS SQL, TSQ L, SSIS).
  • Expert knowledge of Web development (MS .NET, HTML/CSS, JavaScript).
  • Knowledge of interfacing with various technologies using HL7 standards; secure/audited applications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the integration and development work programme with prioritised delivery of projects and support activities.
  • Plan and implement system upgrades and lifecycle management of integration platforms.
  • Drive optimisation of core clinical and corporate systems, especially the Electronic Patient Record, through integration practices.
  • Foster continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development within the teams.

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Integration and Development Manager to lead the integration and development functions across the Hospitals Group. This pivotal role will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a responsive, high-quality service that supports organisational priorities and digital transformation objectives. Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and partner organisations, the post holder will lead the strategic planning, implementation, maintenance and ongoing optimisation of integration technologies, ensuring systems remain resilient, reliable and aligned with the organisation's long-term vision. The role will also drive the continued evolution of the integration and development teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and professional development. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will oversee the integration and development work programme, ensuring effective prioritisation and delivery of projects, enhancements and support activities. They will lead the planning and implementation of system upgrades, manage the lifecycle of integration platforms, and review existing digital solutions to identify opportunities for improvement, standardisation and greater efficiency. A key focus will be maximising the value of core clinical and corporate systems, particularly the Electronic Patient Record, through effective integration and development practices. The post holder will champion best practice, ensure system resilience and operational sustainability, support the introduction of new technologies, and develop team capability through training, mentoring and skills development to meet current and future organisational needs. The role includes participation in the IT on-call rota and occasional evening or weekend working. This is an opportunity to shape the future of data and insight across a Group environment, supporting closer working across care organisations and wider system partners. We are looking for someone who is innovative, collaborative and inclusive, with the ability to develop partnerships and make best use of advanced analytics, forecasting and emerging technologies.

Knowledge, Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Masters Degree or equivalent in numerical subject, and evidence of continuing professional development
  • Extensive experience working within a Software Development or Integration Team at a senior level in an Acute NHS Trust

  • Experience of full end to end software development using Microsoft and Web Technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Formal project management experience
  • Working knowledge of design architecture, data warehousing, and analytical methods
  • Knowledge of using Oracle SQL
  • Knowledge of robotic process automation
