Job summary

Samworth Brothers is seeking a Group Health & Safety Director to shape strategy, set direction across our multi-site manufacturing group, and lead safety performance at the highest level.

You will partner with the Group Executive Board to champion a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement, influence senior stakeholders, and empower leaders and teams to deliver excellence in health and safety.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health and Chartered IOSH status.
• Significant experience leading health and safety within a large, multi-site manufacturing, FMCG or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, governance and risk management.
• Experience developing and delivering business-wide health and safety strategies.
• Proven track record influencing senior leaders and delivering cultural change.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and sound judgement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the Group Health & Safety Strategy in line with business goals.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to the Group Executive Board and Managing Directors.
• Promote a culture of strong leadership, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Work with senior leaders to make health and safety part of key business decisions.
• Ensure effective compliance, governance and assurance processes are in place across the Group.
• Build strong relationships with regulators and external partners, including the Health & Safety Executive.
• Make sure key business risks are identified, assessed and well controlled.
• Develop health and safety capability through leadership development, training programmes and competency frameworks.
