Job summary

ETRA Talent is partnered with an international financial services group to appoint a Group Head of Risk. The role leads the Group’s enterprise risk management framework across broker-dealer and asset management activities in London or Dubai with travel as required.

The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years in risk management within regulated environments, especially experience building or restructuring a risk function and strong FCA/MiFIDPRU/ICARA knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years’ risk management experience in a regulated broker-dealer, investment firm or financial services organisation.
• Experience building, developing or restructuring a risk function within a small to mid-sized institution.
• Strong knowledge of FCA, MiFIDPRU and ICARA requirements.

Financial Services | Broker-Dealer | International Group

I am currently working with a well-established, international financial services group to appoint a Group Head of Risk.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced risk professional to take ownership of the Group’s enterprise risk management framework across a diversified, multi-jurisdictional brokerage and asset management business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in further developing the Group’s risk function, strengthening governance and providing independent second-line oversight and challenge to senior management and the wider business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing the Group Enterprise Risk Management Framework
• Ownership of the Group Risk Appetite Statement and risk governance framework
• Chairing the Group Risk Committee and providing regular risk reporting to senior management
• Leading the annual ICARA process and supporting equivalent prudential assessments across international regulated entities
• Developing stress and reverse stress testing frameworks, recovery and wind-down planning
• Oversight of counterparty, credit, market, liquidity, settlement and broker risk
• Providing independent risk oversight of structured products, principal activity and material business changes
• Leading the Group-wide RCSA programme, including risk identification, assessment, control challenge and remediation
• Providing independent challenge across operational risk, technology resilience, cyber risk and business continuity
• Working closely with Compliance, Legal and Finance on regulatory and prudential matters
• Providing risk input into new products, new markets, client onboarding and high-risk relationships
• Advising senior leadership on emerging risks, strategic decisions and significant business changes

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of 8 years’ relevant risk management experience within a regulated broker-dealer, investment firm or financial services organisation
• Experience of building, developing or restructuring a risk function within a small to mid-sized institution
• Strong practical knowledge of FCA, MiFIDPRU and ICARA requirements
• Experience working across multiple regulatory jurisdictions; knowledge of DFSA, AMF or asset management regulation would be advantageous
• Hands-on experience leading RCSA programmes across multiple business lines
• Strong understanding of counterparty, market, liquidity and operational risk within a trading or brokerage environment
• A proven ability to engage directly with senior management, governing bodies and regulators
• The confidence to operate autonomously and provide robust, independent challenge

Location:

London or Dubai, with international travel as required.

Language:

English required. French or Arabic would be advantageous.
