Job summary

West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Group Head of School – MEH and Building Services to lead the strategic direction of construction and building services education across FE/HE, apprenticeships and industry training.

The role reports to the Assistant Principal and focuses on growing the curriculum, learner outcomes and collaborating with industry partners to ensure relevance and quality.

Qualifications

• Significant curriculum leadership or management experience within further, higher or technical education.
• Strong knowledge of MEH, Building Services, Construction or related technical disciplines.
• Proven track record in improving learner outcomes and driving organisational performance.
• Experience developing employer partnerships and responding to industry skills needs.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic and operational development of MEH and Building Services curricula.
• Drive the Construction Technical Excellence College initiative for the Eastern Region.
• Lead teaching quality, learner achievement and progression outcomes.
• Develop innovative progression pathways from Level 1 through to higher technical and higher education.
• Strengthen partnerships with employers and create industry-leading progression opportunities.
• Lead and develop high-performing curriculum teams across the group.
• Champion inclusivity, innovation and excellence in everything we do.
• Ensure programmes align with emerging technologies, sustainability priorities and future workforce demands.
